Russia speculates that an American destroyer, enlisted with the US missile defense squad, will dock at Georgia while sailing in the Black Sea.

"It is not being ruled out that the USS Mason may call at one of Georgia's ports," Ria Novosti cited an unnamed intelligence source as saying about the guided missile destroyer, USS Mason which is currently sailing through the eastern part of the sea.

Moscow has been suspicious of the recurrent dispatch of US warships to Georgia following the Georgian army's invasion of the breakaway region of South Ossetia which met with a stiff armed response from Russia that virtually eliminated Tblisi's US trained military..

Upon the arrival of the USS Mount Whitney at the Georgian port of Poti in September, the Russian Foreign Ministry accused Washington of fueling the 'aggression' of the Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili's regime.

Russia, as well, doubted the US' claims that the warships, four of which have visited Georgian ports since the August confrontation, were simply sent to serve the avowed purpose of delivering 'humanitarian aid' to the country.

"Naval ships of that class can hardly deliver a large amount of aid. Such ships of course have a hold for keeping provisions for the crew…. How many dozens of tons of aid can a ship of that type deliver?" Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Andrei Nesterenk had said about the Mount Whitney.

Russia has blamed the secret services of Georgia for an explosion in South Ossetia that killed 11 people including Russian soldiers.

"The explosion in Tskhinvali was arranged by the secret services of Georgia and is aimed at Russian peacekeepers to destabilize the situation," Vladimir Markin, a spokesman for Russia's Prosecutor General's Office, told Itar-Tass news agency on Saturday.

South Ossetia's Interior Ministry said a total of 11 people had been killed, including civilians, Russia's Interfax news agency reported.

RIA news agency quoted a military spokesman as saying that Colonel Ivan Petrik, the Russian peacekeepers' chief of staff, had been killed in his office.

The agency also quoted the commander of Russia's forces in Georgia, Major-General Marat Kulakhmetov as saying they had stopped two cars on Friday in the village of Ditsa, in a Russian-controlled buffer zone around South Ossetia, and escorted them to Tskhinvali but as the cars were being searched, a bomb went off.

Georgia denied the charges, however. "I don't understand the logic. How could the Georgian secret service plan that the Ossetians would steal the car and that the Russians would take it to their base. Are we geniuses or what?" Interior Ministry spokesman Shota Utiashvili said.

Georgian military forces invaded the breakaway region of South Ossetia in early August, as a result of which Russia moved its forces to the region where most of the population has Russian citizenship.

At least 2,000 people in South Ossetia and about 150 others in Georgia were killed in the conflict. Also, about 40,000 people were displaced in areas around the conflict zone, according to International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The Pentagon is the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense, located in Arlington, Virginia. As a symbol of the U.S. military, "the Pentagon" is often used metonymically to refer to the Department of Defense rather than the building itself.

Designed by the Swedish American architect George Bergstrom (1876 – 1955), and built by Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, general contractor John McShain, the building was dedicated on January 15, 1943 after ground was broken for construction on September 11, 1941. The Pentagon is the largest[2] or one of the world's largest office buildings. It houses approximately 23,000 military and civilian employees[3]and about 3,000 non-defense support personnel. It has five sides, five floors above ground (plus two basement levels), and five ring corridors per floor with a total of 17.5 miles (28.2 km)[3] of corridors.

The central plaza in the Pentagon is five acres (20,000 m²). The open space in the center is informally known as "ground zero", a nickname originating during the Cold War and based on the presumption that the Soviet Union would target one or more nuclear missiles at this central location. At the center of this plaza was once the "Ground Zero Cafe", a snack bar.

Just south of the Pentagon are Pentagon City and Crystal City, extensive shopping and high-density residential districts in Arlington. Arlington National Cemetery is to the north. The Washington Metro Pentagon station is also located at the Pentagon, on the Blue and Yellow Lines. The Pentagon is surrounded by the complex Pentagon road network.

Iran warns against 'surprise attack'

Iran's Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar, Aug 12

Iran's Defense Minister Mohammad-Najjar has warned that its response to a surprise enemy attack would be a greater surprise for the aggressor.

He said Iran has developed an extensive defense force to repel any possible attack, adding the Islamic Republic is currently a major defensive power.

Najjar said the armed forces have mass-produced a range of advanced defensive equipment including a radar-evading warship and an unmanned mid-jet submarine as well as a high-tech naval weapons system capable of targeting any warship within a range of 300 kilometers from its shores.

He added that Iran's newly-developed strategic products have considerably increased the country's naval capabilities.

Najjar comments follow reports about an armada of US naval battle groups heading toward the Persian Gulf with the aim of reinforcing US strike forces in the region.

On Monday, DEBKAfiles, a source close to Israeli intelligence agency, reported that the USS Theodore Roosevelt, the USS Ronald Reagan, and the USS Iwo Jima are sailing toward the Persian Gulf accompanied by a British Royal Navy carrier battle group and a French nuclear hunter-killer submarine.

The deployment is believed to be the largest naval task force assembled by the United States and its allies in the region since the 1991 Persian Gulf war.

The move comes almost a week after Operation Brimstone, which was conducted by the US, British and French naval forces in the Atlantic Ocean. The 12 warships taking part in the war games were apparently, preparing for a possible attack against Iran.

Washington and its allies have threatened to take military action against Iran if it does not give up the right that international law has bestowed on all NPT signatories to enrichment uranium as part of a civilian nuclear program.

Tehran, however, has refused to give into pressure. In response to the threats, Iran has further enhanced its defensive power by conducting several maneuvers and testing new homemade weaponry.

“The maneuvers that have been carried out recently are held one after another to keep our armed forces prepared and strong. Fortunately, these exercises have shown our great defensive capabilities to the world,” concluded the Iranian defense minister.

US military planes have been making secretive landings in Kenya in what is feared to be an effort to move terror suspects.

The night landings by US military planes at Nairobi's Wilson Airport, carrying Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) operatives, have raised suspicion among both local security agents and aviation authorities.

The planes belonging to the Prescott Support Group, which has been accused in other parts of the world of being involved in the rendition of terror suspects and having strong links with the CIA, were allowed to operate in Kenya two months ago, even after the country's aviation authorities questioned the move.

Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) Director-General Chris Kuto said the planes were only involved in "aerial mapping operations".

"We did give them a license yes but only to carry out mapping activities in Northern Kenya. I am not aware of any other secret activities they are involved in," Kuto told Press TV correspondent in Kenya on Sunday.

The issue raises concerns especially at a time when Kenya security forces are in a frantic search for terror suspect, Fazul Abdullah Mohamed, accused of masterminding the August 1998 attack on the US Embassy in Nairobi which left more than 200 people dead and 5,000 others seriously injured.

Leaked CIA reports cite suspects being arrested, shackled, blindfolded and sedated, after which they are transported, usually by private jet, to other countries like Ethiopia where torture is used to force them into submission.

Human rights groups in Kenya have voiced concern over the mistreatment of terrorism suspects and the harassment of Muslims in the country under the guise of anti-terrorism efforts.

Kenya has previously handed over more than 15 terror suspects to the US and Ethiopian authorities in an exercise that angered many Muslim leaders.

Word is spreading around Kodak Park here in Rochester NY. And will break on national News tonite that Kodak film experts have analyzed the Nick Berg video and some of the Abu Grhaib Prison videos comparing them for certain encrypted recording signatures.

Each video camera leaves a certain signature mark, much like a fingerprint or striation markings on bullets in gun barrels. Same goes for CD-ROM Burners, they leave a trace or type of Cookies on the finished product.

These are tested by computer and not visible by the naked eye. Experts here after lunch have concluded that one of the 2 video cameras used in the Nick Berg "beheading" was also used to film US troop abuses of Iraqi detainees.

Apparently, digital camera manufacturers install a "digital watermark" on each digital imaging device, which is as unique as a fingerprint. Experts have reportedly analyzed the videos and compared the digital watermarks and determined that the same imging device took the Nicholas Berg beheading video and the Prison torture videos!

The exact text of the report is as follows:

Today new pictures were released of prison torture at Abu Ghraib prison.

But not just still pictures. Today video was released showing prisoners being tortured by Americans.

Aparently Kodak film experts at Kodak Park in Rochester New York have compared the digital watermarks of the torture video and the beheading video and have determined that one of the cameras used in the Nick Berg beheading is THE SAME CAMERA that took the prison torture video.

The Pentagon is the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense, located in Arlington, Virginia. As a symbol of the U.S. military, "the Pentagon" is often used metonymically to refer to the Department of Defense rather than the building itself.

Designed by the Swedish American architect George Bergstrom (1876 – 1955), and built by Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, general contractor John McShain, the building was dedicated on January 15, 1943 after ground was broken for construction on September 11, 1941. General Brehon Somervell provided the major motive power behind the project[1]; Colonel Leslie Groves (whose administrative ability, drive and forcefulness led to his nomination to head the Manhattan Project in 1942) and major Clarence Renshaw were responsible for overseeing the project for the Army.

The Pentagon is the largest[2] or one of the world's largest office buildings.[3] It houses approximately 23,000 military and civilian employees[3]and about 3,000 non-defense support personnel. It has five sides, five floors above ground (plus two basement levels), and five ring corridors per floor with a total of 17.5 miles (28.2 km)[3] of corridors.

The central plaza in the Pentagon is five acres (20,000 m²). The open space in the center is informally known as "ground zero", a nickname originating during the Cold War and based on the presumption that the Soviet Union would target one or more nuclear missiles at this central location. At the center of this plaza was once the "Ground Zero Cafe", a snack bar.[4]

Just south of the Pentagon are Pentagon City and Crystal City, extensive shopping and high-density residential districts in Arlington. Arlington National Cemetery is to the north. The Washington Metro Pentagon station is also located at the Pentagon, on the Blue and Yellow Lines. The Pentagon is surrounded by the complex Pentagon road network.[5]

The drums are beating hard and voices have risen as the United States of collective amnesia tries to sell the new costly, albeit fraudulent product of war with Iran.

Its economy is firmly predicated on a rigid and extreme doctrine and the radical organizing principles of sustaining a monstrous machine, which rapaciously covets the blood of the earth and runs on the fuel of war.

War definitely pays big dividends to those who sponsor and design it. It simply takes a febrile imagination, not necessarily a fertile one, to come up with a spurious justification to welcome yet a new war.

For the unsavory corporate kings and their entertainment queens, of course, it is all about the money. As long as the inconvenient facts can be readily incinerated if not relegated to oblivion, there is nothing wrong with scheming to engineer a grand predatory plan to make but a few more dollars.

For the sake of the furious folks back home, who have been again fooled by a fallacious argument, an enemy must be found. If none available, then one must be created. Inevitably, a war must be fought. It is the accoutrement of a neoconservative economic power, which is the will to make consent if not fake it.

When the war starts, it innately tends to gather momentum, develop a logic and find justification of its own. This is when many lose sight of why it is being fought and why it began in the first place.

Viewing politics as power, as maintained by the US, has blinded the American government to the crucial role of power in politics. This is reflective of the values from which and toward which the internal strife for theorizing a new American empire, in a new era, is directed.

To achieve this, a system of power needs a staggering supply of ignorance as well as monumental moral apathy stemming from an arrogant notion of enjoying a singular authority over morality and civility.

This pathetic claim to civilizational authority and superiority is reminiscent of Rudyard Kipling's versified account of the white man's burden.

The Bush administration is now trying to justify its first mistake by making a second one, which could well be its biggest mistake ever, saber rattling against Iran.

American politicians have apparently learned no lessons from their past blunders. Although they think they reflect on the past, they are merely rearranging their insular prejudices if not ill-ordered priorities.

It is bitterly ironic that this peculiar process of US contemplation usually tends to manifest itself in the form of bellicose and apocalyptic rhetoric to prepare for yet another war.

The mother of all such military blunders when coupled with the father of all US lies resulted in Attila the Hun's army descending barbarously on a poor nation ten thousand miles away in the guise of evangelical liberators commissioned to save, i.e. civilize, the Iraqi people.

There is nothing more admirable in politics than a short memory, and the US government seems to boast of such in ample measure. Having a selective memory these days is completely in vogue and having a vivid one seems to be completely in vain. In a consumerist environment controlled by a fear-mongering political propaganda system, assuming a stance reflective of ones beliefs has become all too rare. This is how further invasions become easily comprehendible.

The frightful extension or over-extension of American militarism has recently gained new momentum to prepare for a possible encounter with Iran, a country all too familiar with Washington's regional priorities.

Insisting on treading on a pathological path of disregard for the sovereignty of other countries, the US continues in its inexorable march toward war with Iran. The ensuing terrorizing war-mongering doctrine supporting it is not a dazzling exercise in democratic will but as poignantly observed, is yet another manifestation of a system that is jumping the shark to regain its lost confidence and possibly its credibility in the new era.

It is about time the US realized that it cannot resolve its significant problems with the same level of thinking used to create them.

It is high time the Bush administration comprehended the elementary concept that it is not about what is right about war, it is actually about what is left, after it.

Washington and allies are on a road to perdition, which will inevitably lead to the further carnage of the innocent in the Middle East. This is while its democracy is being challenged from the inside by questions that shake the very core of the flimsy notion that in America democracy prevails.

In the hope that Americans may one day wake from their slumber...
